Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA)in Michigan, handles the claims for uemployment benefits in the state of Michigan
To use the Michigan UIA on-line service, the applicant should be filing a new or further claim. Under the UIA, an additional claim is one filed to re-activate your Michigan benefits when a person already has a claim in existence, then has to temporarily stop getting their benefits on the claim by returning to work, but then becomes unemployed again.
UIA Applicants filing fresh claims must meet the following criteria:
* Have been employed by at least 1 (but not more than 19) Michigan employers during the last year and a half
* Did not file an unemployment claim against another US state during the last year
* Did not work under more than one social security number
* You must know your employer’s mailing address (or you will have to file by phone).
